Bandarban

Bandarban is the rooftop of Bangladesh, a mesmerizing landscape defined by rolling hills, hidden waterfalls, and the Sangu River winding through deep valleys. It offers a dramatic departure from the country's flat plains, where the air is noticeably cooler and the horizons are dominated by peaks like Keokradong and Tajingdong. Visitors can witness the ethereal beauty of Nilgiri, where clouds often float below the mountaintops, or explore the serene waters of Boga Lake, a high-altitude natural mystery surrounded by dense greenery.

Bandarban is part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts and remains culturally distinct due to its diverse ethnic population, including the Marma, Mro, Bawm, and Tanchangya communities. Historically, the region was governed by the Bohmong Circle, one of the three traditional administrative circles of the Hill Tracts. The Bohmong Chief still holds significant cultural and ceremonial authority today. Geographically, it is the most remote and least populated district in Bangladesh, characterized by the Arakan Yoma mountain range influence. The area is also famous for the Golden Temple (Buddha Dhatu Jadi), a modern masterpiece of Theravada Buddhist architecture that reflects the deep-rooted spiritual heritage of the local indigenous groups.
