Overview
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Dulahazra is a sprawling wildlife sanctuary designed to provide a naturalistic environment for a diverse range of species. History & context
Originally established in the early 1980s as a deer breeding center, the facility was expanded and officially inaugurated as a safari park in 1999. It was the first of its kind in Bangladesh, developed to protect regional biodiversity and provide a sanctuary for rescued wildlife. Located in the Chakaria Upazila of Cox's Bazar district, the park sits within a tropical evergreen forest belt that has historically been home to wild elephants. Over the decades, it has evolved from a simple forest reserve into a major center for wildlife conservation, research, and eco-tourism in the Chittagong Division.
Getting there
From Dhaka, take a bus heading toward Cox's Bazar. The park is located directly on the side of the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway in Dulahazra, approximately 100 kilometers south of Chattogram city. Most inter-district buses will drop you at the main entrance gate upon request.
