History & context
Lance Naik Noor Mohammad Sheikh was a member of the East Pakistan Rifles who fought valiantly for the Mukti Bahini during the 1971 Liberation War. He was martyred on September 5, 1971, while providing cover fire to allow his comrades to escape an ambush in the Goalhati forest. For his supreme gallantry, he was posthumously awarded the Bir Shreshtha, the highest military honor in Bangladesh. The library and museum were established by the government to preserve his legacy and provide a cultural center for his home village, which was later renamed in his honor.

From Dhaka, take a bus from the Gabtoli or Sayedabad terminals heading to Narail. The journey typically takes 5 to 7 hours via the Padma Bridge. Upon reaching Narail town, you can hire a local rickshaw or easy-bike (electric three-wheeler) to reach Noor Mohammad Nagar in Chandibarpur Union.
