Foy's Lake

Foy's Lake is a sprawling man-made reservoir carved out of the undulating hills of Chittagong. The lake was created in 1924 by the Assam Bengal Railway authority under the supervision of a British engineer named Mr. Foy, after whom it is named. It was originally excavated to provide a reliable drinking water source for the railway colony and its staff. Over the decades, the surrounding hills remained relatively undisturbed, allowing the ecosystem to thrive. Following the independence of Bangladesh, the area was recognized for its aesthetic and environmental value, eventually being developed into a tourism complex to preserve the watershed while providing a recreational space for the public.
