Shuvolong Waterfall

Shuvolong Waterfall is a prominent natural attraction nestled within the verdant hill tracts of Rangamati. The waterfall is best experienced via a scenic boat trip across the emerald waters of Kaptai Lake, surrounded by towering hills draped in tropical greenery. As you approach the site, the sound of cascading water grows louder, offering a serene escape from the urban bustle. The main fall drops from a significant height directly into the rocky basin near the lake’s edge, creating a refreshing mist that cools the surrounding air.

Visitors can explore the rocky terrain around the base of the falls or climb the nearby wooden stairs to gain a higher vantage point of the Kaptai Lake expanse. Culturally, the region is the ancestral home of various indigenous communities, primarily the Chakma people. The waterfall has long been a landmark for local inhabitants who navigate the complex waterways of the Karnaphuli river basin. Following the creation of Kaptai Lake in the 1960s due to the construction of the Kaptai Dam, the waterfall became more accessible to travelers, evolving into one of the most recognizable natural landmarks in southeastern Bangladesh.
